Is there a way for my customers on the service desk to see the progress of sub tasks associated with the ticket?

Currently we cannot add subtasks to Service Desk Request Types.
Also, issues will only be displayed in the customer portal if they have a request type associated, so that will prevent sub-tasks from being displayed.
