Our company has an existing Jira site (cloud). We are very interested in Jira Service Desk and we have tried to add it to our existing site. We currently use Jira for logging tickets and we need a customer facing solution.
When selecting 'Looking to add JIRA Service Desk to an existing site?', it takes me to an error page that says I must sign up for OnDemand before configuring an OnDemand instance.
From what I read here, OnDemand no longer exists https://www.atlassian.com/blog/archives/goodbye-atlassian-ondemand-hello-atlassian-cloud
When I select the link for signup for OnDemand, it just brings me Atlassian's Product page https://www.atlassian.com/try
What am I doing wrong? Is there a workaround? We're pretty confident about this option, but I would like to trial it first before committing. Help!
Type "gg" search "Discover Applications" and add the Jira desk service from there.

In order to add Jira Service Desk to an existing instance of Jira Cloud, you need to go to the Site Administration panel in your instance, which is only available to Jira Cloud Site Administrators (not Jira Administrators). The group is called "site-admins".
After getting to this section of the site, click on the "Subscriptions & Billing"-> "Discover Applications" option on the left hand side menu. You will then be able to add Jira Service Desk to your instance.

you should certainly try this first before contacting support. I'm just suspicious of your current install given the info you shared.
