I would like to be able to close the request or ticket with out having to go to in process before I do so. Is there a way to go from open to close without having to have so many steps?

Hi Shannon, obvious answer seems to be to adjust the workflow and add a transition from open to close!

yes. i would recommend the use of "allow to transition from all". If you simplify your workflow where every status can transition from every status using the "All" transition then it simplifies the progression. Of course you should give some thought to this to ensure you don't want to require a certain order to your transitions.

We had a similar situation that came up, not sure if your specifics are the same or not, but we had a project that had a specific, fairly long workflow process.  Occasionally users would request that we close out a ticket for them as they were unable to physically do it themselves (part of the workflow required approval/verification from another business unit).  We did not want to allow users to bypass the workflow on their own, but added in a, "shortcut" for our Administrators.  Basically, we allow a transition from all statuses -> closed and restrict it behind a conditional access rule that only allows it to be accessible/visible to us in the Administrator group.  This gives us an easy 1-click close for these issues without affecting the business units normal workflow process.
