For security reasons, our Jira server is not reachable from the outside. We are currently setting up JIra Service Desk for external customers to report bugs and change requests. For the customer portal we would like to provide access through a forward proxy. The url for this proxy access would be different from the base url that is configured in Jira.
e.g.:
http://jira.internal.net:8080 vs https://service.public.net/customer/portal/1
From the proxy side, this should not be a problem, but is there a way that the links Jira sends in emails to the customer be set correctly by Jira?
The URL set up for the customer portal will be same as your JIRA URL.
However, you can supply a customer facing URL and point the static external (internet) IP toward an internal address via your Firewall settings and mappings.
