I would like to know if there is a way to receive an update in the shape of an email, when a tickets priority is changed from a priority 3 or 4, to a priority 1 or 2.
If there is a way to do this without having to buy any add ons - fantastic!
Hey @Jamie
Theres a couple of ways you can achieve this without getting something like Automation for Jira.
If you have the notifications enabled for Issue Updated this will notify you on any changes to the issue. This will give you a bit more than you are looking for but it will tell you when the priority is changed.
If the workflow is configured in a way that the issue is being transitioned at the same time, i.e the priority is being changed in a screen during the transition, you can use the standard project automation using the trigger "Status Changed". This method does allow for false triggers though.
The best choice would be to use Automation for Jira. There's even a free version but I'm sure after you start using it, you'll want to buy it. Its one of the best add ons you can get in my opinion and it lets you expand your automation for any JSD project and regular business or software project. The free version does limit how many times you can run an automation per month. I believe you get 300 total automation triggers.
The only drawback to using AFJ for email automations is that it does not use the standard Jira notification email template. Its just a normal email that gets sent with the content you input into it.
Of course, glad I could help!
