We have a client that wishes to incorporate Slack into our jirasd environment to get updates when tickets have been changed via slack messages. Any issues incorporating this plugin to our jirasd instance? Any info would be greatly appreciated

We offer an official (and free) connector for Jira Server on the Atlassian Marketplace:
Based on what you've described, it's likely that you'll be all set with the official plugin. You'll want to ensure that whatever you configure on the Jira Server side is limited to the project your client is in so that you don't inadvertently leak details about projects they don't have permission to view.
If you find you need more configuration options that what's offered in the official app, there are some paid apps on the marketplace that have more options available. Feel free to take a peek:
