Customize the size of a Custom Field

I have a custom field, that only takes a value of a few characters. It doesn't need to fill the entire window. Is there a way I can adjust the width to make it feel more appropriate for the content going into it?

I tried using the workaround 2 method at the link below, but couldn't get it to work.

You can choose a multi line text field as the custom field type.

Thanks for a speedy response as usual, but I think you might have misunderstood what I am looking for (or I explained it terribly). I am looking to shrink the default size of an input box. Currently, the text field uses the full create window screen, lets say that is 500px, or 80 characters. I am looking to shrink it, so its 100px or 20 characters wide.

My bad. I was reading this on the go and did a poor job obviously 🙄.  In any event to the best of my knowledge this is not possible. Certainly not OOTB. I have never searched the marketplace for any addon that would control this but would be a bit surprised. Maybe others have further ideas here.
