Hi Atlassian community,
Hope you are doing well. I am using the WBS Jira gant chart software and the following error is ocurring while I am trying to export an excel file of the gant chart:
"Some error occurred when exporting excel file InvalidCharacterError: Failed to execute 'atob' on 'Window': The string to be decoded is not correctly encoded."
As anyone found found the same error? If so can you help me?
Best Regards,
Hello Simão 🙌🏻 welcome to the community!
Thank you for posting - Raphael from WBS Gantt-Chart support team here.
This is not a common issue when using the Excel Export feature, so to get the root cause we encourage you to open a WBS Gantt-Chart support ticket and share with us the HAR file as well when creating the ticket, this way we can assist you in a more efficient way.
We'll look forward to your support ticket, Simão.
Thank you in advance.
Kind Regards,

I have this same problem too.
And even exported MS project export as XML, it can't be opened by MS project tool.

Hi Ailsa!
Thank you for replying and sharing your feedback on this issue as well! 😄
Due to WBS Gantt-Chart backend platform limitation, this feature of exporting WBS Gantt-Chart to Excel can only process a payload of 6MB. To avoid this error, please try reducing the number of issues in the Gantt and try to export again (e.g. you can reduce the issues displayed with a Jira Filter and create a Gantt from this filter).
I understand this is not the optimal scenario, however, this is a known issue to our engineering team and is already mapped in our backlog for further improvements.
This should clarify the matter, Ailsa. Furthermore don't hesitate to share with us your comments or questions on the matter, we'll be pleased to help you!
If you feel more comfortable, you can reach out to us through our ticket portal and share other questions as well 🙂

Hi Ailsa,
Sorry, but I think I didn't get you, which app generates this "export.csv" file? Microsoft Project?
copy data directly from the view page
This feature mentioned is by copying directly between the apps itself? If so, we don't have this plan currently in our backlog. However if you meant other question, please let me know.
Looking forward to your reply, Ailsa. Thank you 😊

Since my project size is bigger than 6MB which is unable to export excel.
I'd like to copy a part of tasks and columns instead of export whole project.
Do you have any suggestion to help me get the text from the app?

Hi Ailsa,
You can create a filter on Jira to search a part of your project, e.g. dividing it by issue types to display fewer issues, save this filter, create a Gantt based on this filter, then export it.
Just as a parameter, I have a Gantt with 2.000 issues, and exporting it as a Microsoft Project will have 4MB size.
This should cover your need, Ailsa, however don't hesitate to share with us your comments or questions on the matter, we'll be pleased to help you 😄

Hello Ailsa,
Have you already tried dividing your project and exporting it separately? This way will break the project into minor parts and the payload to export feature will be available.
Just a kind reminder, you can create filters for your project to display fewer issues in your Gantt and then export these issues.
Thank you for understanding 🙌🏻
