Hello,
the question has it all. I have created a screen and want some of the field to be read-only.
Whatever is in those fields is for information only and should not be changed on that screen.
Is this possible?
Thanks,
Michael
Not for most screens - if a field is on a create, edit or transition screen, it is there to enable it to be entered or changed.
On the view screens though, yes, you can make a field read-only, such that inline edit won't work - remove the field from the "edit" screen and it will disallow all editing of the field, while still showing the content in view and searching.
You can use the Jira Toolkit to add "message" fields to edit/transition screens, but they have fixed data in them, not variables.
Thank you @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- It was not the answer I was hoping for but if that's the way it is, so be it.
I'm talking about a transition screen. I want to show some information so the user can make an informed decision. I think it should be the admin's decision whether or not he wants to have a field editable on any screen.
