How do I set permissions so that non admins can only see their updates in JIRA dashboard?

Ordway Center for Performing Arts September 26, 2019

Non admin users of JIRA should only see their updates not other people's posting in JIRA dashboard.

Hi @Ordway Center for Performing Arts

Are you looking to edit the standard Jira system dashboard?

If yes, you can do this as a Site Admin:

  1. Go to the Jira Settings (cog in top-right)
  2. Select System > User Interface > System Dashboard
  3. Choose to edit one of the gadgets from here

As for the requirement - it's not possible to make the Activity Stream show just one user's activity by default. There are apps which will give you more flexibility around filtering the stream though - such as this one.

What I would do is use an app like that to create a default for all users - then create a second dashboard and share it just with the Admins for "all" activity.

Just remember that as users can create their own Dashboards, there is nothing stopping them creating one with an Activity Stream which shows "all" edits rather than just their own, for projects they have access to.

Thanks for the reply.  Just to clarify that by default there is not a way to show just one users post unless I use an app as mentioned above?

Hi @Ordway Center for Performing Arts

Not that I know of. You can set it to be one specific username, so if one user wanted to create their own personal dashboard and have a personal activity feed - they could.

But it's not possible to use this filter to set it based on the current user logged in - which is what you would need to do the above.
