Is there a limit to the number of Request Types per Jira Service Desk Project? We are implementing this for a large IT organization that includes a desktop support team and an application support team. Due to our circumstances, we cannot connect to Confluence for a knowledge base.
I am wondering if we can create Request Types like keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc and application 1, application 2, etc. The request types will all have descriptions with "keywords" This will allow users to do a search in the customer portal and get the correct request type or a list of potentially correct ones.
Since our organization is large, if we go this route we could potentially have several hundred request types. Would there be any performance related issues with having so many?
Hi Pam,
Thanks for reaching out to Community!
I haven't found anything that mentions a limit of request types on a server instance.
I can tell you that on a cloud instance, more than 80 request types on a single project causes slowness and more than 100 the page won't load, I've tested and that's what happens.
On Server, it depends on many things, like hardware, java, code cash, heap and etc, but there is no documentation that says what is the limit of request types on a project.
We can test your use case on a test environment here, do you have an idea of how many requests types would you and your team need on a project?
Regards,
Angélica
Thank you for the reply! We are in the early stages of designing our implementation so we are trying to determine if we need 1 project for all teams or each team have a separate project. Request types was a question that came up after I took the "getting a service desk setup" training.
