Jira project not visible in linked issue

franco.andrao March 9, 2020

Hello,

I'm looking to create a new issue in a project in Jira-server starting from an issue in Jira service desk.
When I choose "more" and "Create linked issue" I see only JSD projects and not the Jira server project. Checking the "link" function I can see all the Jira-server  project that means the application links works properly.
How can I create the issue in Jira server so it is possible to configure a rule automation to do that?

Hello @franco.andrao ,

Is the Service Desk Site a separate install from the Software instance where you are trying to create the linked issue?  As it sounds like the issues may be coming from having two Jira sites running in a Federated configuration

The Create linked issue option from Jira service desk as covered in this article can only create an issue within the same site.  So, a project on the local install and cannot create issues in second federated install connected via application links.

Alternatively if Jira Service Desk and Software are installed on the same site, there could be a permissions issue at play, make suer the user you are creating the linked issue with has permissions to "Browse project" "Create issue" and "Link issue" permissions in both the source and destination projects.

Regards,
Earl

Thank you for your reply. I understand your explanation and I'm going to install JSD in the same site.

Best regards
