My scenario.

I have an object that has an attribute called "Status" which has the following options:

Active

Disabled

Replaced

Is is possible that when replaced is selected, an attribute is then made visible

"Replaced with" which is then linked to my assets list

Thanks

Such functionality is not provided by  Insight. There is only a "Filter by IQL" option under Configure -> Filter Objects (available only for attributes with type Object).

Any more advice on this @Jack Brickey ?

I think @Jack Brickey is referring to a Jira custom field and Jira functionality, not realizing that you are talking about an Insight functionality (an app in Jira).

Indeed that is the case. I did not note the tag previously. Sorry, I do not use Insight.

Hi Martyn, welcome to the Community. You could consider using a cascading select field which would allow you to select a second level value based upon the selection of the first. If you don't want anything for Active or Disabled you can simply place "N/A", "none" or similar in as options. So you end up with this arrangement...

Active > N/A

Disabled > N/A

Replaced > asset1

                 > asset2...

One final comment - I would encourage you not to use "Status" as a custom field name. Having duplicate names, especially if it duplicates a system filed, can cause confusion and undesirable results.

Hi Jack thanks for your response.

Im very new to Jira so im still finding my feet and learning as i go.

Ive created a select field , but how can im not sure how i introduce a second level

Im going to give this a google to see if i can find more info

no worries, we all start at the beginning. ;-)

so you can't "add" the second level. you will need to create a new field of "cascading select" type to replace your old field. Note that you can't migrate the old field to the new.

After a quick google, I have created a custom field but i cannot figure out how to assign this to an attribute:

These are the only ones available

Martyn, I’m not sure what more info you need. As I stated you need to create a new field of type cascading-select and get rid of the old field.

Any chance you could point me to the right area to do this.

I have created a custom field from within the issues settings, where do I go to enable this within the insight attributes list like the picture above?

The custom field is selectable within the service desk but not there

Thanks
