It is possible to use the CAS authentication (Apereo CAS version 5.1.4) for the Jira Service Desk Cloud and Confluence Cloud service.
Hi there,
Apero CAS it not currently one of the supported identity providers, it means that there is no official documentation from Atlassian with instructions to set-up Apero CAS, but you can try to integrate by following the steps of the documentation below:
- SAML single sign-on
Note that, the SSO only works for internal users, it will not be applied for customers to log in on the customer portal.
Regards,
Angélica
All SSO integrations are for the agent portal and not for the client portal? Is it possible to configure the client portal to not request login?

Hi @Administración_Soporte
Server and datacenter versions of Jira Servicedesk has more flexibility around the login experience for both agents and customers (clients). With third-party marketplace SSO apps, you can both provide CAS authentication to both user groups. You can also enforce SSO and stronger authentication methods (like 2FA) for both user groups if needed.
I am happy to give you a demo of the opportunities if it is an option for you to move to a self-hosted or hybrid cloud Atlassian environment.
Have a nice day!

What is the hybrid cloud Atlassian option? Could you give me more information?

Hi @Administración_Soporte
Hybrid cloud means that your setup Jira Server or Data Center in a cloud hosted environment (like AWS or Azure). This give you the flexibility of the cloud and the control and customizability many Atlassian customers need.

Hi @Jon Espen Ingvaldsen Kantega SSO
I am interested in knowing more about how to apply SSO in a Jira Service Desk server version. Is is possible?
May it be done without plugins or are they mandatory to achieve that?
Thanks in advance.

Hi @José María Conejero Manzano
Thanks for asking :)
It is not possible to setup SSO for Jira Service Desk (JSD) server without a SSO add-on or, alternatively, the Atlassian Crowd product.
Do you want both support agents and customers in JSD to benefit of SSO? Also, do you want your users to login through an external identity provider or do you have Active Directory and want users to be logged in automatically without being exposed to any login screen at all?
You can evaluate our Kantega SSO app for up to 90 days for free, and it supports both SSO mechanism (SAML and kerberos) and it can be configured to provide SSO for both support agents and customers. I am happy to assist you if you have questions during your setup and want a screensharing demo session.
Have a nice day!
