Saving partially complete forms for later completion

Hello,

We need to be able to allow customers of our JIRA Service Desk to partially complete a form, save it, return to complete at a later time, and then submit it as an issue.  I have looked at the myriad add-ons for forms in JIRA Service Desk and Confluence without finding one that has this functionality.  If you have solved this use case, please share how you did this!

Hey Scott,

Unfortunately I'm not aware of any marketplace addons that do this either for Service Desk. Confluence has drafts of course but I'm guessing you're looking more towards some form add-on for Confluence that lets users submit content without actually editing a page.

On the client side, there are browser extensions like Typio Form Recovery that save form content in the user's browser cache to resume later if needed. This isn't Atlassian-specific and requires some training for people to realize they can recover a previously-started form, but a possible option if your use-case is for a small set of users you can work with directly.

Thank you for replying!  Your guess is correct, we don't want a page created, just a form that generates a JIRA Service Desk issue which the user can return to and complete filling out prior to submission.  The functionality would be similar to what the webform module in drupal is capable of but we don't want to use drupal for our solution.

Hi Anu, welcome to the Community!

Since this question was originally asked a year and a half ago by Scott for Jira Service Desk Server, I see that someone has opened a suggestion for saving partially filled forms in Jira Service Desk Cloud: JSDCLOUD-8780 . Voting on the issue and watching it would be the best way to receive updates.

In full transparency however, it hasn't gained any votes in the time it's been open and isn't a widely requested feature in our product feedback. I would still suggest using something like a form-recovery extension for your browser for this particular need, as I don't think there is a good chance of form recovery being built into Jira Service Desk.
