trying to edit custom fields

I have been granted Service Desk administrator role and have been able to create a new project but am unable to edit the custom fields - operational category or product category field. Do I need to be a system administrator for this task?

Nevermind, I just found I can do it via Service Desk administrator - the function was not easy to find though - custom field under edit schema
