I would like to know if anyone tried this rule, as it would make my routine tasks MUCH easier. Would there be a way when you are creating a tasks that you can have it automatically preload with the parent/Epic name? Here's an example:
Parent: Charity Campaign
Child: Charity Campaign: Emails
I hope that I explained that clearly!
Hi @marshallmm,
No, not really. As an alternative, you could reverse the logic and use automation to update the summary of your tasks after they are created. Your automation would look something like this:
Obviously, add the necessary conditions so the rule only runs when needed. And - on a side note - don't enforce too much structure in your summary field. In this case, I can understand how adding the name of a campaign to the issue title helps you understand what it's about. But if you want to use this later on for search, I would rather use select lists or another type of structured field.
Hope this helps!
Thank you for the suggestion @Walter Buggenhout!
I was so worried about preloading the ticket that I didn't think to reverse engineer. I added specific label and type constraints, and it works well.
