About notification email for issues in jira workflow

We have used jira (v4.4.1) for project management, and hope to get notification emails BEFORE or AFTER some days of the issues due day or planned day or some set day?

what should we do?

and i have installed the plugin of jira calendar, but it seems that just only list the issues or versions no notication function.

You can create a filter to display issues that are past due and then subscribe to it. The filter can have jql like this:

duedate <= -5d and resolution = Unresolved
