Active directory fails to synchronise users and groups

Daniel Rosenkvist March 11, 2019

I have tried for hours to synchronise users and groups from configured LDAP, i have checked with my LDAP server that the directory exist and contains users with another applications but for some reasons i can't seems to make it work with Jira.

Heres is my domain and folders for which contains the group I which to synchronised:

Inside.myNetwork.int/ICT/GROUPS/group1

I have tried to following settings:

base DN: DC=Inside, DC=myNetwork, DC=Int

Additional group DN: CN=group1 ,OU=Groups,OU=ICT

I would really appreciate if anyone could help me with this really annoying problem

I have always had difficulties making sure that my syntax for an active directory was correct.   To help with this, I have been using a sysinternals utility provided by Microsoft: Active Directory Explorer

I like this utility a lot because as I navigate my AD, the Path bar in this utility provides the exact syntax needed here.

Try using this just to make sure we have the correct settings in Jira.   If you find this still is not working as expected, please let me know what other settings you have configured in Jira for this, such as user object filter.

In Jira, when you press the synchronize now button, do you see any errors in Jira?  What about the $JIRAHOME/log/atlassian-jira.log file when this happens?
