Add Notification when assigned to a specific person

JIRA 8.2.3

We have a Project, where we have a notification scheme which sends a notification mail to a reporter, the assignee and previous assignee, as most installations do.
This is no problem and works like a charm (mostly ;) )

Now, when a Ticket will be assigned to a specific person, there should not only be a notification as usual (reporter, assignee, previous assignee), but also to another specific person.

I know that I can set up the Notification Scheme that *always* a mail will be send on assignee-change, but it should not do that, only for a specific person.

The thing is, that this project is self-managed, and the project lead takes care of.
But there might be a Ticket which needs involvement of the Head of the Project (not project lead, usually not involved).
Now, it may happen, that the head of the Project is abroad for a while and noone will take care of this ticket.
Therefore it should send a mail not only to the head of the project but to his Deputy.

But only in this single case, it should not "spam" the Deputy all the time nor the head of the Project.

I was thinking that with Workflow this could be achieved, but then this would need a special workflowaction, which should not be done, as it will complicate the workflow.

Preferrably, it should do this only for this single case where this head of Project will be assigned.

Any idea anyone?
Thank you very much for your feedback and ideas.

Hello,

For me the best approach it's to works with workflow, but what i will do is to create a filter and a subscription that will send an email to the specific user. If the jql result is 0 make sure that nothing will be sent when you configure the subscription.

Your query will look like :

project = abc and assignee = head of the project.

If the result is more than 0 then the Deputy will receive an email.

I hope that i understood your request.

I just check in my instance, the deputy will need to be in a group, cause the mail from a subscription is only send to a group

Hope this helps
