I'm trying to find a way to add a custom field to versions. We have development for multiple different applications occuring within one team, because of that we have multiple versions in development at the same time. With the different applications being supported we have to seperate each version by application for a one to one relationship. We can do this through naming conventions, but it would be a lot easier if we could add a custom field to the version itself to have that information captured in the metadata.

I've read through a previous post  which contained a solution but according to atlassian documentation that workaround is no longer viable for systems past 7.1, that's a problem since we're currently on 7.3.

Has anyone else ran into a similar issue or found a new workaround for this?

The first answer you found in that thread remains broadly true - you are going to need to find or write code that can add version fields.
