Administrators responsible for upgrading Oracle DB Driver?

Hey all,

Are we as sys/app admins expected to manually upgrade Oracle DB drivers when a new version of them comes out? I see that Oracle 12C Driver 2 has been released. Atlassian documentation states that Oracle drivers are not bundled with the installation.

Yes. Oracle does not allow their drivers (Oracle or MySQL) to be distributed. You will need to download and install the updated one on the application manually.

In my Jira distribution (7.6.11) there is a driver named "ojdbc8-atlassian-hosted-12.2.0.1.jar" in the lib folder. I'd like to know the difference between this one and the official driver from Oracle...?
