Are there any consequences for changing the email of a user in Jira?

We have moved to a different email domain name. All the users' Jira accounts are still registered with their email of the previous domain. From what I believe all emails sent to the emails of the old domain are being transferred to the new one. I'd like to know what would happen, and if it would be safe, if I changed an e-mail of a user from an old domain to a new one?

@Shirley HeThe only impact is that  user/users will get notification in the new mail  :)
