The answer provided to this question: JIRA Automation Set Active Sprint, is exactly what I am looking for, however, it only works for traditional (non-next-gen) projects.
I want to implement the following:
When marking an issue in my Next Gen project as "In Progress", the `Sprint` field should be set to the currently Active Sprint.
Hi there Fowler,
Developer from Automation here.
I've just tested the same scenario and had no issue editing/creating issues with the active sprint set from a next-gen project. Can you confirm this is the case, and what exactly is or isn't happening instead?
You'll need to ensure that you created a nextgen project with a scrum board (doesn't work with kanban), and you'll need to start a Sprint first if you haven't. Make sure to refresh the page after running the rule if you haven't, and you can find any success/error information in the audit log section after clicking "show more" on the failed execution.
As a note the sprint field only works with scrum projects with a board, not kanban.
If you are still having problems getting your rule to work then it might be worth contacting support for further help with your issue here: https://support.atlassian.com/contact/
