Can I create Jira tasks through Email?

I was tasked with finding a way to have the tasks on our Jira Board automatically generated by sending an email directly to the platform, without it having to go through a second team member first. Is that possible? And if so, how do I go about it?

yes you can. Have a look at this KB to set up a mail handler and create issues from mail. 

Based on this configuration you can create issues and even use follow up events to assign them to a user or add specific customfields.

1. Configure mail server (shown in KB)
2. Configure mail handler for incoming mails (shown in KB)
3. (Optional) Create Automations within a specific project for post processing

You can even set up a system to answer out of the Jira system and create conversations between incoming mails and answers from Jira.
