Can I create a subgroup/subcategory inside a portal group?

jason.duplock March 3, 2025

Hi All

I have a bunch of forms for portal users to select from all under one group in my JSM portal and I would like to create subgroups within that group to help users navigate the forms. Is this possible?

I have read something about using single select fields but I have to admit I do not really understand the concept.

Thank for your help!

Jason

Hi @jason.duplock , the OOTB soulution does not offer sub-groups. In the help center you have projects > groups > request types. Of course you can use Forms with conditional logic to present different fields so, depending on your requirements, you may be abke to meet your needs.

I was looking for the same information as Jason. Is there any opened tickets to JSM to support this capability at some point or can you recommend add-ons that can assist with this requirement

Thx

@Martin Proietti , I don't have a great deal of experience with investigating this but I did spend a bit of time with refined-for-jira-cloud . It replaces the Atlassian and leverages the API to create a portal that you design/layout. I am unsure if it presents a solution for multi-level request hierarchy or not.

Hi Martin,

As Jack mentioned, you could use Refined Sites for JSM Cloud for this.

While we don't add extra sub-groups within groups of requests defined on the project - you can use our Sites & pages on these sites to create navigational hierarchies for your users, that then lead to specific request types from your JSM project.

Here's a link to contact our team for a demo if you're keen to learn more.
