Can a sub-task which creates an issue link this to the main ticket?

I am trying to work out a requirement I have been given.

We have an issue created about which part of the automation will create a sub-task.

The problem with this subtask is that if the workflow progresses to a status, it will create a new issue type in another project

We need the last-created issue type to be linked to the first issue type.

HI @Ian Robinson - So, if I'm understanding this correctly, you have the following sequence of events:

1. Issue 1 creates a Sub-Task 1
2. At some point in the Sub-Task 1 workflow, it spawns Issue 2 on a separate project 
3. When Issue 2 is created, you want it linked to Issue 1

If my understanding is correct, there are a couple ways to handle this, but it would help to have a screen shot of the rule that creates issue 2.
