Can an optional field be changed to a required field on the fly?

Hello,

Is it possible to realize one of the following two functionalities on a Request Screen?
How exactly?

1. Version
There are three fields:
Dead Line - Yes/No - visible - Standard Value = "No"
Dead Line Date - empty (for Date) - hidden
Dead Line Reason - empty (for Text) - hidden

If a User leaves "No", then nothing else happens, it can go on.
If a User choose "Yes", then the both other fields should appear (get visible) and be required.

2. Version
There are two fields:
Dead Line Date - empty (for Date) - optional
Dead Line Reason - empty (for Text) - optional

If a User leaves "Dead Line Date" empty, then nothing else happens, it can go on.
If a User enter a date in this field "Dead Line Date", then the second field "Dead Line Reason" should be required.
