Hi Team,
Currently we are tracking timespent manually during transition of every status. can we track the log efforts automatically if there is any start and stop option available in JIRA please help me as this helps to reduce lot of manual work and helps to track accurate effort spent by every user on the issue.
Thank You.
Hello @shravya chinthapatla
If you need to get the exact data on how long your colleagues have been working on issues, the easiest way is to use add-on from the Atlassian Marketplace.
For example, Time in Status for Jira Cloud provides such data. It generates a report for how long each of your team members has been working on a particular issue. And how long each issue has spent in all statuses
Or with the Status Entrance Date report monitor the dates when the issue has entered each of the statuses.
You can watch data on the grid, graphs or charts view. Or export data as CSV or XLSX files using the Power BI.
This add-on is developed by my team and is free for teams up to 10 users. Let me know if you have any questions.
Hope it helps.
Do you have Tempo Timesheets installed? It has a Tracker that helps you calculate the spent time. But honestly, I never use it as people can get interrupted from their work and tend to forget to pause the tracker.
Also, what is considered Time Spent? If I leave an issue in status "In Progress" for 8 hours, it doesn't mean I spent 8 hours working on that ticket.
You may think it's time consuming and manual work, but it does help to think about how you spent your day. I would never log less than 15 minutes of work for any task.
Even if you only spent 2 minutes following up, this isn't manageable.

Thanks for the response!
Can you suggest me the best way to track the actual worked time by user in JIRA?

Keep on using worklogs for time spent, but with a minimum of 15 minutes per worklog.
Add the worklog when you finish the task (the same day, not at the end of the week f.e.) If you work on the same issue multiple times a day, add 1 worklog for the entire day.
