Cannot upload an icon or logo

My old icon and logo are gone and Jira won't let me upload a new one.  I tried to upload a new favicon numerous times.  Every time I get no error yet the image is still broken.

I can reset to default and that works, but upload is silently failing.  I even tried uploading the default Jira image and that also fails silently.

Any suggestions?  Seems like a bug in Jira.

We fixed this issue by giving the Jira application server read/write access to the shared home, logos folder

The issue magically went away after posting.  I tried to re-upload the main logo and it worked this time around...and then the favicon upload started working too afterwards.  Very odd, but glad its working again.
