Pretty new in Jira and this is actually my second post.
I have successfully created a rule to close a parent status when all the subtasks are done.
What I can configure is how to automate the status of the next subtask.
How would the rule decide the sequential order of the Sub-tasks?
Are they linked together potentially using "linked issues"?
There needs to be some relationship between them to allow Automation to find the next Sub-task and move it forward.

@Ste Wright , the subtasks are created using an automation rule as well. When a specific issue is created and certain conditions met, a series of subtask is also created using the automation rule.

But how do you decide the order of Sub-tasks - and track that A needs to be done before B, etc?

Good Question. The order should be on how they are created on the automation. The keys i can not use since the values changes every time.
The only way I can think so far is to assign another number field and assign designations into it.
But that means i need to make transition rule for every task.
