Changing Custom Field context from global to project level

Sangmesh October 1, 2021

Hello,

I have few custom fields in my project which are currently of Global context.

I want to change it to project level by creating a separate configuration for only that project.

If I change it from Global to Project level, will the previous values (when It was global) have any impact or it is the same after changing it to project level.

I will have same options as in Global context.

I am using a multilevel cascade field and it has custom fields in it. I want to change the context to project level in order to optimize the working on Multilevel cascade field (by Idalko).

Could you please help on this?

Thanks,

Sangmesh

Hi Sangmesh,

To add a separate configuration for  specific Project. Please follow the below steps.

Adding a new context

1.To add a new context:

2.At the top of the page, select Add new context.

3.Choose a name for this context and a helpful description.

4. Select the issue types and projects this context should apply to.

5. Click Add.

6. After you add a new context, you can change its details, default values, and options:

7.  To change the details of this context, like name and description, and the issues and projects this context applies to, select Edit configuration.

8. To change the default value, select Edit default value.

9. To change the options, select Edit options. This will not be available for custom field types that don’t use options.

Please have a look at the below link.

You probably want to add a new context, not change the global one.   The new context can be set up with different values for the specific project and issue type(s) you want.  That leaves the field the same for everyone else.
