Changing default formatting in comment box

Hi,

In in the comments/reply to customer box in JIRA tickets, the formatting is set up to add an additional return/line after hitting enter.  I've looked at the options in the format bar but don't see anything.  Does anyone know how to change this to not separate paragraphs or make other default formatting changes?

Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community!

The new editor is the Markdown and when pressing enter/return it will start a new paragraph. This is the default and at the moment it's not possible to configure that for Jira or Confluence.

There is a feature request suggesting the implementation of this ability:

• Provide the ability to configure the hard and soft returns in the Jira/Confluence editor
