Checking APIs for cleanup and lack of archived project data is making it difficult

I am specifically, looking at cleaning up Issue Type Screen Schemes using this API - https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/platform/rest/v3/api-group-issue-type-screen-schemes/#api-rest-api-3-issuetypescreenscheme-issuetypescreenschemeid-project-get

I'm looking for responses that contain "total": 0, meaning they aren't associated to any projects and can be deleted.

When I hit an Issue Type Screen Scheme that is associated with an archived project it returns

"total": 0.  We don't want to delete these since they are still associated with a project that we may need to restore at some point.

Any suggestions on how to work around this?
