Cleared out files from $JIRA_INSTALL/temp while JIRA was stopped and now I get an error

I cleared out temp files after stopping jira, I started JIRA up and it was in the "loading" screen stage and then it went to error, not sure why or how to fix this.

Not sure why you would clean out this directory completely (Jira will just fill it with copies on restarting, slowing the restart and chewing the disk space back up), generally, you would only really want to kill off files in there that have been left behind for no particularly good reason, having a rule like "remove files that haven't been touched for a fortnight".

Anyway, clearing the temporary directory wouldn't stop Jira restarting, just slow it a bit.  I suspect there's something else wrong.

What does the log say the problem is?
