Copy service desk project using ScriptRunner, abnormal content sync occurs on customer notification

Horace Su July 1, 2020

A few months ago, we had a request setting up a new service desk project (project B) which is very similar to an existing service desk project (project A), so I used the feature "Copy project" from ScriptRunner to quickly complete the request.

Things were going well at the beginning, but someday an issue reported that said the notification content is different from what the project admin set in project B, after investigation, I found 2 serious bugs:
1) the content of customer notification "Request created" in project B is syncing with the content of "Subject" in the customer notification template in project A.
2) the content of customer notification "Public comment added" in project B is syncing with the content of "Styles" in the customer notification template in project A.

I think that could be because of the function incomplete of the add-on ScriptRunner?
Couldn't find a way to fix this issue, we now use automation to send notification as a temporary workaround.

I know to re-create a new project B is the best solution, but it's not feasible for us because we now have 20k+ ticket in project B, and we must retain the same project key, and to move the tickets will create different issuekeys.

It really bothers us because the notification content in project B modifies from time to time, sometimes it would impact project A if the modifier doesn't know this issue.

Looking for a solution from the database perspective, thanks.

Project B was copied in late Mar 2019, at that point:
  Jira Software: v7.6.6
  Jira Service Desk: v3.1.2
  ScriptRunner: v5.5.0

Today:
  Jira Software: v8.4.2
  Jira Service Desk: v4.4.2
  ScriptRunner: v6.0.2-p5
