Hi,
In a customer drop down field which has a lot of customers, I have recently added another.
We will call it ABC.
Now when you do an advanced search for the customer name, it shows two.
customer = "ABC"
results- ABC
ABC\t
Does anyone know why there are two? And what the \t is. I have searched everywhere for a duplicate and there are none.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Hi Dave,
If your drop down values have this value you can possibly edit the drop down values to remove the ABC\t that exists in the custom field configuration portion.
How it got there? I have seen in some cases when doing imports through CSV sometimes values get populated and added to drop down fields. It is one step we try to stay away from when doing imports, unless the fields are exact.
If you go to the configuration of the custom field you may see it within the list of values to choose from.

also forgot to add:
If you do have the value existing in the drop down, you can do a search for all issues that have ABC\t, then use bulk update to edit / update the issues with the correct value. Then you can edit the custom field configuration to remove ABC\t from the list of values so no one can choose it again.

Thank you for your reply. What's crazy is ABC\t is not in the drop down. It is only when you try to query for ABC issues it shows both options. And they both have tickets associated with them.
I know this isn't a lot of info to go from, but not sure how to explain further. Thanks

Let me run a few tests and reach back to you.

Thats weird. So when you look at your drop down configuration you only have one ABC defined? Without seeing more of the issue it is hard to figure out.
I created a test custom field and added ABC and ABC\t and it shows in my drop down.
Only option I can think of is the field is not a true select drop down. I have seen label field type behave this way. If you have as screen shot of the custom field and we can see what type it is I can try and reproduce it on my test site.

Thank you for looking into this. I actually found out what I did about an hour ago. Sorry for not posting sooner.
I ended up hitting the tab leaving a space at the end of the customer name. When I removed the space, it resolved my issue. No more \t
Again thank you!
