Exporting user Data - not via email

strange one, I noticed now when you export users via the admin > User management it sends you a email instead of just going to your downloads.

Is there a way to not to get an email and when you hit export its just in your downloads.

Not only this, 

the time it takes to actually receive this email with an expiring link is hours, not minutes.

There is no indication on when to expect the email.

And when you finally get the link and check the list, you discover that the information in this report is inconsistent with what is presented on the individual user admin pages.

Talked to support about this and got the usual ...
