There is a way yo find all the boards that belong to X user. well where X is board admin for example: boards where board admin = "Michael"

and if the user X gone to jira, I mean, his account is not active, I know that jira doesn't delete it username but even with the user disenable in jira, can we find it?

If you are a Jira administrator, you can actually see these boards by going to Boards -> View all boards or /secure/ManageRapidViews.jspa

On that page, you can search for boards by the board admin name.  So that is probably the easiest way to find any boards that this user was an admin of.    Even if your account is not technically listed as a board administrator, if you are a Jira administrator, you can still make changes to that board directly.

@Andy Heinzer  how can we find boards by a board admin name on Jira cloud? As a Jira administrator, I'm looking to -

1. Find boards that belong to user X

2. Add user Y as another board admin.

Hi Abhishek,

Unfortunately, this is not very easy to do in Jira Software Cloud today.  Even if you are a site-admin in Jira Cloud, you do not necessarily have the access to see all the boards that exist in this site.   You could certainly try to follow the previous steps to visit $yourJiraCloudURL/secure/ManageRapidViews.jspa

This page can show you boards on your site.  But there multiple limitations here.

  1. First while you can see the board admins on this page, you can't sort the boards by board admin here.  Nor is there the ability to search for boards with just a username or a user accountid. If you have a lot of boards to manage, this makes it very difficult to find which users are admins on which boards.
  2. Second, it is also possible that you might not even be able to see all the boards, and without being able to see it, there is no possibility to manage it.  The reason for this is that boards have tended to base visibility permissions solely upon the shares/permissions of the filter that board uses to show issues (because what good is it to see a board, if there are no issues there that you can see).  If that filter is a private one, and not shared with you, and the project is not one you have access to, then you won't be able to see this board.  Jira Software Cloud also has the ability to locate a board in a project (common) OR in your personal profile (which is rather new place to keep a board).  If the board is in a personal profile, there is no way for you to add other users to it.  Only the board creator could do that.
  3. Third, boards with multiple admins do not display the username on this page here, but instead just the users avatars.  If there is only one admin, this should be easy to see (provided that you have permissions to see the project this is in/board filter).

There is an existing feature request that directly relates to the problems that Jira Software Cloud admins see here in JSWCLOUD-5576 - As a (board) administrator I'd like to access the board regardless of the filter shares.  I would recommend that you vote and watch that issue for updates here.

I have also tried to see if perhaps this information is something you can obtain through the REST API, and while other posts on this very topic seem to indicate this might be possible, in what I have found recently, the Jira Software Cloud REST API does not provide you with the necessary board admin information in the current release.

Sorry I do not have a better solution for you at this time. I fear this problem is not unique and in my view Jira administrators should have better control to manage this kind of information on their site.

In the meantime one alternative here would be to reach out to the board admin in question and ask them directly to add this additional other user as a board admin to each of their owned boards.  I know this is not an ideal work-around as in many cases should person X leave an organization this is not an option.
