How can I copy the security level of an epic to child issues?

Orbyn IT September 5, 2022

Hi!

I would like to copy the security level from an Epic to all the child issues, which in this case are stories.

I've tried to create a rule to automate this processes, but everytime I tried, it failed.

I've tried this way:

I've seen the other related post, but nothing seems to work.

Could someone help me with this issue?

Thanks in advance

Hi Renzo!

Thats the way I've tried, but it didnt work, I don't know why.

I've tried that way "on creation" but nothing seems to happen.

Do you know another way?

Thanks!!

Hi Luna!

Do you want to copy the security level on creation or do you need to update already created stories to match the security level of the epic?

For case "on creation", try updating your automation as follows

As you can see the action for editing the Issue fields is inside the If condition using an If / else block.

Since I don't think its really necessary to use an If / else block, you could also use a simple issue fields condition directly:

Now, if you want to update already created Stories, you should be able to do so by Bulk editing the issues using the Advanced Issue Search and filtering by the stories that belong to that Epic.
