How can I share the values of a custom Label across multiple custom label fields

Mark Mermelstein April 29, 2022

We deal a lot with Merchant IDs in our tickets. I love using Labels for this purpose. It's easy to click on Merchant ID "0001" and get every ticket associated with that Merch ID.

I am now building specialized tickets that say "Merch ID to Migrate" (label) to "this Merchant ID", but I want it to populate their values to the same, original Merchant ID label set.

It seems each custom field categorizes its custom label as its own set of labels.

How can I make custom label fields be shared across  various or all fields, so when I click on any one of the values (regardless of its custom field origin), I can see all of the tickets that ever used that Merch ID label?

Hi @Mark Mermelstein

The above is not possible if my understanding of the request is when searching for issues, you would like a wildcard sort of search whereby all fields named like Merchant ID will automatically show their results when you search for a value?

The reason is Jira was designed along the logic of field and then value so a wildcard search get all values of fields named like abc is not possible out of the box to my knowledge.

Regards.

Ah, then it's as I feared.

But I understand the rationale. Still ,I will conceive of some way to accommodate this request.

Thank you so much for your clarification Ismael !
