I am trying to clone an issue with Jira Cloud Automation and want to set the status of the clone to be "To Do".

But when I use the "Choose fields to set" dropdown, status is not listed:

How can I set the status field to "To Do" for the cloned issue?

Hello @Cash Coyne

You will have to use a Transition Issue action to transition the created issue to the desired status.

You will also have to change the context of your rule to that newly created issue.

If you are creating a clone in a different project than the one where the source issue exists then you will have to make this a multiple project scoped rule in order to execute the Transition Issue action against the issue in the other project.

Hi @Cash Coyne

If you want to try a third party app for your cloning needs, our app, Deep Clone for Jira, enhances cloning capabilities in Jira. This includes more granular control over cloning and post-clone actions, like automatically transitioning statuses or bulk-cloning issues with specific configurations. This can be particularly useful when standard Jira functionality doesn't meet all your requirements for issue cloning and automation.
