How do we calculate Service Level Expectation?

Hey Guys, 

I am working with a Kanban based team and one of the key metrics in the framework is the card age. In more detail, This is the amount of time passed between entering the In Progress state through to the Done state. 

I am genuinely surprised that Jira does not support this metric when it is one of the key values to optimise flow. 

The only solutions i can get are the install Jira add ons which i want to avoid due to lengthy approvals. 

Is there really no other way to achieve this?

I agree that there are opportunities to improve Kanban team-supporting measurement/reporting in the tool.  Until those are added...

I can think of four ways to measure the build cycle time you are noting:

• Use the built-in control chart report and change the options to include your desired status values.  Please check the help for details about what this report shows.
• As you note, buy one of the add-on products from the marketplace
• Manually compute the time by logging information daily in something like a spreadsheet
• Use the API, or the database for an on-prem version, to access the log information to compute what you need
