How do you configure the Links available from a Jira Agile Board?

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Configuring a board

There's a Link icon on the toolbar on the left of the Board. How do I configure the links that it goes to?

There's actually a pane on the left – it's closed by default. Look for the arrows at the very bottom left, and click that. Once the pane is open, you can see an "+ Add Shortcut" link.

I have the very same issue, for some boards the "Issues" link is there and for others it is not, what is the trick here ?
