How to read jira logs

Kiran Jonnada February 28, 2018

Hi. I am working on creating a splunk dashboard. I want to display number of issues created and modified today. How to get this information from logs? So, when I create a issue how it will be displayed in the logs and in which logs it will be displayed?

Thanks.

By default, it usually won't be displayed in the logs at all.  The logs are not tuned to log everything, they'd be far too large to be useful.  They're aimed at logging things that might be wrong, not normal working activity.  You'd need to turn up the logging levels to get more in the logs.

If you do, then the main log to work with is <jira home>/logs/atlassian-jira.log
