How to set Edit Own Comments' permission to owner of the comment

Martijn Herfst January 2, 2019

We did a domain migration last week, now is the functionality of editing own comments not working anymore.

We chaned nothing on these settings with the migration, i have checked the permission, including a test. The test shows all green dots.

We receive the error as shown:

Failed edit comment.JPG

Any advise?

Is this Jira Server or Jira Cloud?

If this is Jira Server, what version of Jira are you using now?  Where you using a different version before this migration?  If so which version?

I have not seen this specific error before, but it doesn't look like a permissions failure. Instead it looks like there is some content/data that can't be saved or edited here for some reason.

If you're using Jira Server, I would be interested to have you take a closer look at the $JIRAHOME/log/atlassian-jira.log file at the time this error occurs.  It might tell us more about the underlying cause here.

I have a concern that perhaps in the process of trying to migrate Jira you might have also attempted to upgrade Jira.  Depending on the versions of Jira/Jira Service Desk/Jira Software that you might have been using before the upgrade, it might not be possible to do an upgrade across many versions in one go.  If that is the case, it might be necessary to first upgrade to an intermediary version before you can upgrade to the latest versions.
