We are finding our participants aren't always receiving updates even when they are shown in the participants list. Is there a setting I should be checking.
We also have an issue just now with our "email this issue" app whereby we can't receive responses from our external supplier.

First thing you can check is the Notification settings in your project. Project Settings-->Notifications, and add Request Participants to the required Notification events so that the participants also get notification emails about any updates on the issue.
I have not used "email this issue" app, so can't comment on the issue you are facing with it.
It was set to all users, but I'll give it ago and see if that makes a difference.
