Is it possible to force user to select only specific status during transition issue type?

Hi Guys,

I have a question during transition  of Service Request issue type to Incident.

Users in my team try to bypass 'Open' status to "Work In Progress" or "Pending" when they map statuses during issue type transition. 


I would like them to be able to select only "Open" so that they can follow my pre-defined rules such as filling mandatory fields in the screen when moving "Open" to "Work In Progress"

Would it be possible to do that?

Hi @Boyd Hong,

What you describe is not a transition - it is actually a conversion of an issue that was created as the wrong type into something else.

Your screenshot comes from the move operation (which is the right way to address this type of change), but this is basically a maintenance tool intended to help you fix migration issues. It is designed to help you perform major bulk operations in a controlled fashion and - by design - should allow you to choose al possible statuses in a workflow of an other issue type.

So no, you don't have the option to restrict statuses here.

One additional note on top of this.  You should not have "move" as part of a process.  Move is there for correcting genuine mistakes, or doing maintenance.  It is never a transition.

Hi @Boyd Hong 

As per the Image the "All transitioned" transition is enabled for the all statuses. Modify your workflow that will allow to user to transition the workflow from "Open" to "Work In Progress" only.
