Prior to the recent changes to JIRA, we were completing initial development/POC of JIRA Service Desk. After review, the decision was made to purchase it in November (after JIRA Core/Software release), so we now own a license for JIRA Service Desk 3.
Sadly, we are not yet ready to update our production environment from JIRA 6.4.7 to JIRA Software.
Is it possible to install JIRA Service Desk 3 (so that we can utilize our license) on a pre-7.0 version of JIRA?
Absolutely. If you download a previous version, you can simply install it as an add-on and your license for SD 3 will work. This is exactly how we are running in our organization.
Previous versions of SD can be found at https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.atlassian.servicedesk/versions
We are running 2.5.9 on JIRA core 6.4.3 with no issues.
Isn't version 3.0 a "standalone" product? So isn't it possible to have a Service Desk 3 install along side a JIRA 6.x install and still work? I'm wanting to do that if possible...
