JIRA Service desk 3.0

We are currently using JIRA 6.3.7 + agile. We have planned to move our JIRA instance to JIRA software.

Additionaly we have to use JIRA Service Desk. Can we use it with JIRA software? Is the Service Desk plug-in available and can it be embedded with JIRA software?

Can we use JIRA service desk as a seperate system from JIRA software? Then can we use same confluence instance to link both JIRA software and JIRA service desk?

JIRA now comes in three different variations.

  • JIRA Core - upgrade from plain JIRA with no add-ons
  • JIRA Software - upgrade from JIRA + Agile
  • JIRA Service Desk - upgrade from JIRA + Service Desk

Note that Software (previously "Agile") and Service Desk are no longer Add ons - they are applications that run on a JIRA Core.  (You might think of them as add-ons, but they're not quite the same thing as add-ons any more - the licencing and installation is different)

So, you can see from the three options above how you can upgrade if you've got Agile OR Service desk now, but the missing thing is JIRA + Agile + Service Desk - you can get that by installing any one of the three above, and then adding the missing Application(s) to it. For most people who need both, the easiest route is probably to upgrade to JIRA Software, and add the Service Desk Application.

Hi Ruwan,

Service Desk can be used along with Jira software, it is an add-on. You can't use SD without a JIRA instance, can't be separated.

Cheers
